WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE JOB:
*** Candidate must come in knowing the New Relic platform from agent deployment and setup to building alerts, dashboards and setting up AIOps in the New Relic platform.

The Monitoring and Observability Senior Engineer role will be responsible for installation, configuration and maintenance of systems, software and equipment related to the enterprise use of New Relic. This is a leadership role that will set best practices and standards for the organization's use of New Relic. You will be a driving force for performance and observability. You will provide intelligent, proactive monitoring to ensure end-to-end insight into our core services. Additionally, you will utilize New Relic to provide monitoring, analytics, alerting, dashboards, and insights for maintaining the health and up-time of services across our infrastructure. In this role, you will provide Observability for our clients, find the gaps that they cannot see, work with technical and management teams and introduce best practices in root cause analysis and resolution.

WORK LOCATION & SCHEDULE: The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home anywhere in the USA working an East Coast schedule. (Core Working Hours 9:00am-5:00pm Eastern)

• Serve as organizational expert on the New Relic platform architecture best practices, techniques, and methods. Research, analyze and apply emerging trends to projects and operations. Contribute strategic expertise to IT and organizational initiatives.
• Evaluate business requirements to develop architectural frameworks, specifications, code and prototypes that address emerging IT, business, user, and process requirements.
• Develop and maintain a platform roadmap.
• Maintain documentation of the platform architecture and design.

• Collaborate with developers on achieving IT and business goals.
• Develop and prepare performance metrics, activity to monitor progress. Develop project status reports and dashboards for senior management review.
• Participate in industry/knowledge reference groups.
• Provide training and guidance to other staff.
• Lead and contribute technical expertise to projects.
• Evangelize the adoption of best practices in relation to performance and reliability.
• Continuously refine monitoring processes, policies, configurations, and thresholds.
• Build monitoring that alerts on symptoms rather than on outages.
• Actively look for opportunities to improve the availability and performance of systems by recommending the learnings from monitoring and observation.
• Lead the organization in identifying trends, drawing conclusions from problems, and recommending the actions needed to resolve these issues.
• Assist application support teams in developing and deploying a compelling monitoring profile for their critical applications and services using various monitoring techniques.

PAY INFORMATION: The annual salary range for this position is $150K - $165K. We do not offer an annual bonus for this role. Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role. **We will review specific salary information at the time of phone screening based upon your location & experience.**

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (required/minimum qualifications):
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with New Relic or 3 years with New Relic along with 5 years on other comparable monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Cloud, Linux, JAVA, Python, C, UNIX, and Ruby software and systems.
  • Experience with Agile, SaaS, NoSQL, Cloud Architecture, and Javascript software and systems.
  • Experience with containers and container orchestration tools (Docker and Kubernetes and experience preferred).
  • Experience in Application Performance Monitoring (APM) and Infrastructure Monitoring for different hybrid business applications and infrastructure.
  • Skills & Abilities: Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to apply technical expertise to resolve problems. Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks efficiently. Ability to work on a team. Natural collaboration skills and an eye on continuous improvement.
  • Fluent in scalability and root cause analysis exercises. Dedicated to continuous integration and orchestration.

Travel: Travel may be required.
